A fun song by McCartney written as a crash course in songwriting.
I learned this one from the Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack…a classic by Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders.
We played a few covers for NMI, a local music school with awesome folk: CCR’s Down on the Corner, ELO’s Rock n’ Roll is King, and The Mamas and The Papas California Dreamin’.
By The Turtles, and only in the 60s could they include a French Horn like that! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRCe5…)
Who hasn’t covered this great song over the years? Even if you can’t dance…it makes you want to! (A couple of our harmonies get a bit hinky…it’s sometimes hard for us to hear the mix live.)
Covered by the Beach Boys, but this one’s by the Mamas and the Papas.
A cleaner version of the John Fogerty/CCR classic. We don’t have a gut bass, washboard, or kalamazoo, but my sister did find a pretty cool cowbell sound on her drums.
Written by Hoyt Axton, this song was made famous by Three Dog Night—if it’s a cold night in Australia, you gotta’ snuggle with your dingo, and three for the freezers! Cool name, cool band, and they are still playing almost fifty years later. Now that is really cool! Here’s to us playing in 2065…we’ll see you there. 🙂
